Follow the shade through the day
08:00–18:00 local · base interval 30 min · finer interval 15 min
Run both sampling resolutions to estimate shaded and sunlit hours. Changing study settings or geometry clears these results.

MODEL NOTES
A design question, not a planning verdict
Sun direction follows NOAA / Meeus solar equations using your entered location, date and signed UTC offset. Daylight saving is not inferred. Heights and positions are assumed, not surveyed; the example is synthetic. The NOAA calculator is no longer actively maintained.
Ground shadows are the swept footprints of rectangular building prisms, clipped to the site. Union areas remove overlaps. Very long projections are shortened only beyond the greatest footprint-to-site distance needed for clipping. This geometric safeguard does not remove low-sun uncertainty.
Coarse and finer midpoint samples can both miss brief transitions. Reduce the base interval and inspect relevant times before drawing conclusions. No result certifies sunlight access, habitability, planning compliance or safe design.
